The sand trap - every beginner golfer's worst nightmare

Here are a few things to keep in mind when thinking about how to get off the beach: sand trap advice (green side bunkers.. not fairway!)

Tip 1 - Dig In:

Accomplishes both getting your footing, and accessing what type of sand you are dealing with.

Tip 2 - Weight on your front foot:

Weight distribution should be about 60%-40% in favor of your lead foot

Tip 3 - The Dollar Trick:

Pretend that your ball is sitting on a dollar bill, and that it is covering the face of the president.  Hit the edge of the dollar behind the ball (about two inches)

Tip 4 - Take a full swing and follow through -

One of the most important tips of getting off the beach and out of the sand is to take a smooth full swing, and follow through. Do not hack and shorten your follow through.

So next time you are on the beach and looking to get off in once piece, make sure to keep things simple. Find your footing, get your balance, remember the dollar trick, and follow through!
