A lot of beginner golfers have questions surrounding what club they should use at which time. Here are 5 tips that serve as the beginner's guide to golf club selection
1. Be honest with yourself and find your REAL distance -
I do it. You do it. Your friend does it... we lie about how far we can hit clubs. Don't try to step on a 9 iron to prove a point. Admit your buddy can hit his 9 farther than you, grab your 8 and take a smooth swing and pin seek, bro.
2. Know when to lay up -
Psych, never lay up (but if you are smart and have patience, don't go for it all in one swing, take a reliable club and keep it in play, especially as a beginner).
3. When in between club distances go with more consistent one
As a beginner, you probably aren't going to make perfect contact. If you do - nice! You did it! If you don't, you want to use the club you are better with (or at least think you are better with).
4. Take environmental factors into account before going to your golf bag
How is your lie? Where is the wind blowing? Are you in the trap? Is there a big fucking tree in your way? All things to consider before you select your club. Speaking of environmental factors, looking to experience new golf experiences - check out our friends at Primetimestravel.com
5. Sometimes clubs break and you should leave them in your bag
By clubs breaking, I don't mean physically break - I mean you simply cannot hit it. For some reason, everyone has this club. For me, it is my 3 iron. I can hit every other club in my bag (kinda) but without fail, my 3 iron sucks. And yet, every time I am at that distance, I use my 3 iron with the same result. It is insanity. Leave your broken club in your bag!!

Remember those 5 tips and you will be selecting the right club in no time!
